Bellagio Residency: April 2023
Project: “New Research on Gender and Development During Climate Change”
Caren Grown is an internationally recognized expert on gender issues in development who has served as the Global Director for Gender and Senior Technical Advisor for the Fiscal Policy Unit at the World Bank. She visited Bellagio in April 2023 to write a book with Maria Floro making the case for integrating climate change and evolving care needs into the gender and development discourse as a useful framework to address women’s poverty, vulnerability, and empowerment. Caren is currently a Senior Fellow at the Center for Sustainable Development in the Global Program at the Brookings Institution, where she is creating a program on new issues in gender and development, with a strong focus on climate change.
