Rachel Kadish is an award-winning novelist and essayist whose work has appeared in The New York Times, The Paris Review, Slate, and National Public Radio. She came to Bellagio in October 2023 to revise her new novel, which explores the long echo of war crimes and the effects on descendants of bystanders as well as victims, set in a politically unsettled Poland in the aftermath of the 2010 Smolensk air disaster. Rachel has earned fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and residencies at Harvard/Radcliffe’s Bunting Institute and Stanford University. Her most recent novel, The Weight of Ink, won the National Jewish Book Award and was a USA Today best-seller.
