Welcome to the September 2024 edition of the Bellagio Bulletin! This summer, we caught up with several Bellagio Network members to see how their work at Bellagio has evolved. This issue delves into reimagined approaches to make the world’s social and economic infrastructures more sustainable and equitable.

First, you will meet Nobel Prize for Economics winner Joseph Stiglitz and discover his case for progressive capitalism, a new vision for driving economic equity.

You will learn about Lesly Goh, a World Bank Group senior technical advisor who promotes sustainable agricultural practices by developing digital resources that help farmers reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase incomes.

We will introduce you to a trio of collaborators, Emiliano Rodriguez Nuesch, Manuel Pastor and Chris Benner, who unite their research and storytelling ability to raise awareness about the human and environmental impacts of lithium mining for the electric vehicle industry.

Finally, you will meet Payal Arora, a digital anthropologist who explains the wave of optimism for technology in the Global South.

This Bulletin marks the debut of “Because of Bellagio,” a new video series that spotlights Network members and the solutions they unlocked at the Bellagio Center.
