DAKAR | October 23, 2024 ― Galien Africa and The Rockefeller Foundation are proud to announce their new strategic partnership as part of the seventh edition of the Galien Africa Forum and the fourth edition of the Galien Africa Prize, which will take place from Tuesday, October 22 to Friday, October 25, 2024, in Dakar, Senegal. This collaboration aims to promote joint health and climate initiatives in Africa through innovative solutions designed to strengthen the resilience of health systems and accelerate the transition toward a more sustainable and equitable future for African populations.
To strengthen community resilience in addressing the interconnected challenges of public health and climate change, The Rockefeller Foundation aims to support the Forum and Galien Africa Prize in reinforcing existing national coordination mechanisms for relevant public policies in these areas. This partnership will enable various stakeholders to engage in long-term, sustainable, and impactful initiatives.
The Galien Africa Forum and the Prix Galien Africa team are excited about this collaboration, seeing it as an opportunity to reinforce its commitment to improving public health in Africa by incorporating a climate and environmental dimension. Indeed, the challenges of climate change and public health are closely interconnected on the African continent, making it impossible to develop any meaningful initiative for healthcare access and health innovation without considering environmental and ecological factors.
