The Rockefeller Foundation and Resource Alliance Calls On Thais For Applications to Honor Best Nonprofit Organizations

Bangkok—For the fourth year running, The  Rockefeller Foundation-Resource Alliance partnership that celebrates and rewards the best nonprofit organizations launched its call for applications for the Thailand NGO Awards 2014.

Today marks the first day in the search to identify examples of best practice, innovation in local resource mobilization, and effective programming and financial management in NGOs that have created sustainable development and improved lives of people in Thailand and the Southeast Asia region. Nominations are open through May 20, 2014.

“Over the last century the Foundation has been at the vanguard of global philanthropy, supporting non-profits throughout the world that contribute to the well-being of humankind,” said Ashvin Dayal, associate vice president and managing director, Asia of The Rockefeller Foundation. “We are pleased to support the Thailand NGO Awards to not only showcase outstanding practices and achievements of local organizations, but to also build confidence in the non-profit sector. ”

Nearly 300 applications have been received from across the country over the past three years including non-profits that focused on improving the lives of the most vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, the disabled, and children living in poverty, as well as protecting the environment and the rights of consumers.

Each year, 12 organizations will be awarded, with three receiving the “Thailand NGO of the Year” awards across three categories:

  • Small: annual revenue under 2 million Baht
  • Medium: annual revenue between 2-10 million Baht
  • Large: annual revenue over 10 million Baht

Each recipient will receive a trophy, cash prize, and will be recognized at the Thailand NGO Awards Annual Ceremony in September 2014 in Bangkok.

In the lead up to the awards ceremony, throughout the year, NGO training sessions on transparency, leadership, volunteer management, governance, fundraising, and communications will be organized to promote good standards and sustainability. During these workshops, NGOs are encouraged to apply. Application forms, criteria, and eligibility information can be found on www.resource-alliance.org or www.facebook.com/ThailandNGOAwards.

About The Rockefeller Foundation

For more than 100 years, The Rockefeller Foundation’s mission has been to promote the well-being of humanity throughout the world. Today, The Rockefeller Foundation pursues this mission through dual goals: advancing inclusive economies that expand opportunities for more broadly shared prosperity, and building resilience by helping people, communities and institutions prepare for, withstand, and emerge stronger from acute shocks and chronic stresses. To achieve these goals, The Rockefeller Foundation works at the intersection of four focus areas—advance health, revalue ecosystems, secure livelihoods, and transform cities—to address the root causes of emerging challenges and create systemic change. Together with partners and grantees, The Rockefeller Foundation strives to catalyze and scale transformative innovations, create unlikely partnerships that span sectors, and take risks others cannot—or will not.
