Alexander Bashian is Director of Innovative Finance at The Rockefeller Foundation where he leads investments and partnerships focused on clean energy, sustainable agriculture, and nature-based-solutions. Alexander has over a decade of climate-focused impact investment experience in early-stage ventures and private debt, both as a Senior Investment Officer at responsAbility Investments and Investment Manager at Invested Development (2011-2018). Prior to joining The Rockefeller Foundation, Alexander led strategic impact investments and corporate sustainability initiatives at Meta (2019-2022).
Alex began his career as an analyst on the electricity trading desks at Morgan Stanley and Lehman Brothers. His academic background includes a BA in Environmental Management with a minor in Business from the University of Colorado at Boulder, an MPA from Columbia University with a specialization in International Energy Management and Policy, and adjunct professorships with the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.
