Project: “Addressing the Climate and Care Crisis”
Alexandra Garita is a leading feminist activist committed to advancing the human rights of women and LBT people. She has protested, written, and advocated for bodily autonomy, sexual and reproductive health and rights, climate justice, and gender equality throughout her life. Alexandra visited Bellagio in February 2023 as part of a group residency to develop a strategic plan for addressing the climate and care crises, placing feminist analysis at the heart of a just response. She is currently the Executive Director of Prospera International Network of Women’s Funds. Prior to this, she worked as Advisor at the Simone de Beauvoir Leadership Institute in Mexico and was founder and President of the Board of Equis: Justice for Women.
