Amanda Gorman is the youngest Presidential inaugural poet in U.S. history and a committed advocate for the environment, racial equality, and gender justice. She came to Bellagio in March 2023 to explore thematic issues of literacy, history, and race in the United States and the African Diaspora to elevate the importance of telling the untold stories of black women and valuing their lives. Among her many accolades, Amanda is the recipient of the Poets & Writers Barnes & Noble Writers for Writers Award, one of TIME magazine’s Women of the Year, and the youngest board member of 826 National, the largest youth writing network in the United States.
