Bellagio Residency: February 2023

Project: “Addressing the Climate and Care Crisis & Sharing Lessons from Africa to Africa”

Anita Nayar is a feminist activist and scholar who has worked in the global South and North through feminist organizations and as Chief of the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service to advance women’s human rights, economic development, and climate justice. Anita came to Bellagio in February 2023 to participate in two group residencies: one to develop a plan for addressing the climate and care crises through a feminist analysis of the care economy, and the other to develop a fellowship program and film series utilizing policy insights from Africa’s decolonization era to address today’s developmental challenges. She is currently founder and director of Regions Refocus, a non-profit organization building cross-regional, cross-movement solidarity in the struggle for progressive and feminist economic policy.
