Project: “ASR”
Anocha Suwichakornpong is an award-winning filmmaker whose work is informed by the socio-political history of Thailand. She’s currently a film directing faculty at Columbia University. During her residency at Bellagio, she worked on ASR, a feature-length film about the three kingdoms of Siam/Thailand. Anocha is the founder of Electric Eel Films, a production house that has produced many acclaimed short and features films. Anocha’s second feature, “By the Time It Gets Dark,” centers around a student massacre that took place in 1976 by Thai state forces and far-right paramilitaries at Thammasat University in Bangkok. It won three Thailand National Film Awards including Best Picture and Best Director.
