Project: “Higher Education Online and the Developing World”
Chris Impey, a past Vice President of the American Astronomical Society and a NSF Distinguished Teaching Scholar, has written several hundred referred publications and nine popular science books. An astronomer known for his research on observational cosmology, galaxies, and quasars, as well as his advocacy for equity in education, Impey came to Bellagio in September 2022 to develop new models for bringing high quality online college education to students in developing countries, where there are 700 million people without easy access to higher education. He is presently a Distinguished Professor of Astronomy at the University of Arizona.
