Project: Surrogate Trees: Creative Outdoors Spaces for Hotter Cities


Doris Sung is an architect and innovator, known for her groundbreaking work in developing environmentally responsive building materials that transform architecture into a force for sustainability. Her use of smart materials, particularly thermobimetals, has redefined how buildings can interact with their environment, offering passive solutions for energy efficiency and pollution control. During her residency at Bellagio, she focused on advancing the development of panels designed to absorb air pollution, collaborating with experts in aerospace engineering, fluid dynamics, and preventive medicine. Sung, Principal of DO|SU Studio Architecture, continues to influence the future of the field as she leads the way in creating more sustainable urban solutions.
