After joining The Rockefeller Foundation in September 2011, Erica Guyer was elected by the Board of Trustees to serve as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in March 2023. Ms. Guyer has responsibility for managing the Foundation’s legal services, including corporate, governance, grantmaking, and compliance matters, and is a strategic advisor on grants, contracts, and program-related investments. She also oversees the Foundation’s archives program. Prior to joining the Foundation, Ms. Guyer was a senior associate at Withers Bergman, LLP where she advised public charities and private foundations on international and domestic grantmaking, program related investments, tax, and governance matters. She began her legal career as an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver and Jacobson LLP.
Ms. Guyer serves as Secretary of RF Catalytic Capital, the Foundation’s public charity, and is a frequent speaker at tax-exempt organization conferences.
Ms. Guyer has a B.A. in Anthropology from Brown University, an M.A. in Anthropology from Arizona State University, a J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School and was a Fulbright Scholar in Canada focusing on indigenous property rights.
