Bellagio Residency: April 2023
Project: “Maximizing the Purpose of Life”
Greg Fischer is a national award-winning entrepreneur, businessman, and former mayor of Louisville, Kentucky. He came to Bellagio in April 2023 to write a playbook to guide the world’s mayors to build pathways to resident-focused outcomes and trust in local government. Due to the feedback from his residency cohort, the book evolved to address a broader audience on how to discover personal and/or organizational purpose and operationalize that purpose to create greater good. During his three terms as mayor, with a focus on the community value of compassion, Greg set a path for Louisville’s economic renaissance, including $24 billion+ in capital investments, the launch of the Evolve502 promise scholarship that ensures every public high school graduate has an opportunity for higher learning, and the launch of a new hospitality/tourism movement known as “bourbonism.” He was also elected in 2020 by the mayors of America to be president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
