Project: “Crises in times of a security mindset”
Dr. Joanne Liu began working for Doctors Without Borders in 1996 and became its International President in 2013, remaining in this post until 2019. Attending Bellagio in May of 2022, she wrote about the many lessons she has learned from a storied career on the frontlines of major humanitarian crises as a doctor with Médecins sans Frontières (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders. Since 2019, Liu has been a physician in the Pediatric Emergency Department of Saint-Justine Hospital and a professor at the McGill School of Population and Global Health, where she focuses on pandemics and health emergencies.
