Project: “Reimagining Property Rights”
Margaret Levi is a distinguished political scientist and prolific author who examines what constitutes trustworthy governance in states and organizations, and what elicits compliance, consent, and dissent from citizens. She studies governments, firms, social movements, and labor unions around the world. She came to Bellagio in October 2023 to work on a project reconceptualizing political equality and reimagining property rights. Margaret is currently Professor of Political Science and Senior Fellow of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University. She has been elected to numerous honorific societies, and she served as the president of the American Political Science Association. She is a winner of the Johan Skytte Prize.
