Project: “New Research on Gender and Development During Climate Change”
Maria Floro is a widely published economist and scholar focusing on gender and climate change, the care economy, time use and unpaid work, demographic change, vulnerability, food security, migration, and the informal sector. She came to Bellagio in April 2023 to write a book with Caren Grown making the case for integrating climate change and evolving care needs by exploring the multi-faceted interactions between climate change, development processes and gender roles and relations in paid, unpaid work and care. Maria is currently Emeritus Professor of Economics at American University (AU) in Washington DC and Senior Advisor to the Care Economies in Context Project.
