Sherrilyn Ifill is a civil rights lawyer and scholar. She most recently stepped down after 10 years as the President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF). In 2021, she was named by TIME Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the world. Ifill came to Bellagio in October 2022 to work on a new book tentatively entitled “Is This America?” in which she explores the role of racial inequality and injustice in accelerating the unraveling of American democracy. She currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the Ford Foundation.
