Project: “Men’s role in achieving gender equality: Changing toxic masculinities through education”
Urvashi Sahni is a pioneering social entrepreneur, women’s rights activist, and expert in gender equality. A champion of girls’ education, she constructed a critical feminist pedagogy and has used it with great success with thousands of girls in over 1000 schools. Sahni came to Bellagio in October 2022 to work on a new program designed to support young men to address and overcome the toxic patriarchal masculinity that hinders true gender equality. Currently, she is the president and CEO of Study Hall Educational Foundation, which runs nine schools for rural and urban Indian groups, including girls, disabled children, rural youth, and children outside the formal school system.
