Project: “Boys and Men: Deconstructing toxic patriarchal masculinities”
Urvashi Sahni is a pioneering social entrepreneur, women’s rights activist, educationist and expert in gender equality. A champion of girls’ education, she constructed a critical feminist pedagogy and has used it with great success with thousands of girls in over 1000 schools. Sahni came to Bellagio in June 2023 to work on a book about deconstructing masculinities, building on her work supporting young men to address and overcome the toxic patriarchal male identities that hinder true gender equality. She is the Founder, president and CEO of Study Hall Educational Foundation, which runs 4 K-12 schools and 132 community based learning centers, for rural and urban Indian groups, including girls, disabled children, rural youth, and children outside the formal school system.
