Project: “Enabling Government in Developing Countries through knowledge translation and collaborative governance”
Walid Ammar is a doctor and public health leader. Ammar came to Bellagio in July 2022 to work on a project to conceptualize a “collaborative governance” model for developing countries, using the health system as an example, to support system reform efforts and organizational change. Ammar has served on the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO) and is now the chair of the WHO Independent Oversight and Advisory Committee for Emergencies Program. He is Director of the Doctorate and Research in Public Health Program at Saint Joseph University (USJ) in Beirut, and former Director General of the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) of Lebanon.
